Pirate is our first French import
from Normandie. He was born on January 10, 1999, out
of Mina des Bords du Dan X Égo
Di San Germano.
He came home 9 months (like a pregnancy!) after we let
go of Umbro, our first griff who was 14 months. He was
euthanised due to severe dysplasia. We have bought him
from a backyard breeder...
So, Pirate was eagerly waited for and we kind of forgot
about basic rules in obedience. All griff's hunting qualities
were all together in the same dog: he became a HUNTING
MACHINE, with instinct, desire, stamina and enterprise
and, to top it, health and great training tolerance. Without
the basic training, he felt like hunting for himself is
what's best! We were the followers...
I call him "the professor" as he teached me a
lot about hunting dogs and training a hunting dog. He mostly
enable me to make mistakes without ever showing resentment.
Today, he is more reliable but still isn't willing to let
another dog in front of him to get that bird, specially
grouse.
